Local Government Climate Initiative Lecture well attended
The December 6th Sustainable Moraga lecture on how local governments can reduce their ‘carbon footprint’ was well attended. Those attending included the new town council members, the city manager, Dean Steve Woolpert from St. Mary’s, Dr. Jeff Ritterman from Richmond as well as county folks, high school students and Lafayette residents. We also have several business represented (Canyon Construction and The Olsen Team). There were about eight Sustainable Moraga members present as well.
Tim Burroughs talked about the program and the member cities and counties around the world and the Bay Area. He then outlined the methodology used to collect current energy emissions, establish a base line, and initiate local tasks to begin emissions reduction. We then had a question and answer period, and several attendees spoke about the current ‘green’ projects in Moraga.
Sustainable Moraga plans to hold this event again in early 2007 at St. Mary’s College.
